OKC Parks’ brings Little League® Baseball to Oklahoma City for the first time
The wait is over. Little League® Baseball comes to Oklahoma City for the first time this spring thanks to Oklahoma City Parks & Recreation. Registration is now open for 10-12-year-olds at okc.gov/parks.

Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center wins Impact Award from ULI
Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation walked away from the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) Oklahoma Impact Awards ceremony a winner of the Outstanding Public Initiative Award for the Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center.

City looking to hire trade positions during Feb. 13 hiring event
The City’s next one-stop hiring event on Feb. 13 will offer interviews for technical positions such as building maintenance mechanics, irrigation technicians, industrial electricians and industrial heat and air mechanics, elevator and electrical inspectors and plant operators.

OKC Parks to host Adaptive Valentine Dance, Adaptive Black History Month Celebration
Will you be our Valentine? Valentine’s Day fun is meant for everyone. OKC Parks is holding an Adaptive Valentine Dance at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 10 at Sellers Recreation Center, 8301 S Villa Ave. This dance is for anyone 17 or older with disabilities. There will be music, dancing and more.

City’s Strong Neighborhoods Initiative purchases former Dewey Elementary School to create Ward 7 park
In late December, the City of Oklahoma City closed on a 4.22-acre property, which includes the former Dewey Elementary School located at 3500 N Lindsay Ave. The Oklahoma City Parks & Recreation Department and the Planning Department’s Strong Neighborhoods Initiative (SNI) requested to the purchase.

OKC residents have options for Christmas tree disposal
OKC residents can drop off natural Christmas trees for OKC Parks to mulch from Dec. 26 through Jan. 15. They can be dropped off, and mulch can be picked up from dawn until dusk in designated areas at the following parks: Will Rogers Park and Wheeler Park.

Trout fishing, kids' dance lessons are some of OKC Parks’ events happening this weekend
Kick off trout fishing season at Route 66 Park, 9901 NW 23rd St., at noon on Dec. 16. Kids 5 - 15 will get a chance to catch a rainbow trout. All the tackle will be supplied and can be taken home after the derby courtesy of the Police Athletic League.

Tickets on sale for “A Dickens Christmas” presented by OKC Parks

Kids can learn gymnastics or create holiday wreaths with OKC Parks this week
Children, ages 4-14, can participate in a gymnastics course at Southern Oaks Recreation Center, 6818 S. Walker Ave. This program helps kids develop cognitive skills and strong and healthy bones, increases coordination and improves flexibility.
