  • OKC Recreation Centers closed Jan. 9

    OKC Parks recreation centers, community centers, performing arts centers, senior centers, and gyms will be closed Thursday, January 9. All outdoor parks will be open 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Martin Park Nature Center and Will Rogers Gardens will keep their regular winter hours.

    Instead of leaving your live Christmas tree at the curb, turn it into free mulch with OKC Parks. OKC residents can drop off their natural Christmas trees between Dec. 26 – Jan. 15 for OKC Parks to mulch at one of two locations: Will Rogers Park or Wheeler Park.

    Storm debris pick-up will begin Jan. 6, 2025. This final collection is for residential trash customers in the designated areas at okc.gov/debrismap. There will be no storm debris collection in the area until Jan. 6.

  • OKC’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center closed Dec. 20

    Oklahoma City’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center will be closed Friday, Dec. 20, for maintenance and reopen Saturday, Dec. 21. The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center at 1621 S Portland Ave. accepts a wide variety of hazardous materials from residents’ homes year-round.

    Road improvements limit access to Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center, James E. Stewart Golf Course

    The northernmost portion of Frederick Douglass Avenue will be closed through January for road replacement and repair. This closure will affect access to the Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center and the James E. Stewart Golf Course. Patrons should now turn east on Frederick Douglass Avenue from MLK.

    Oklahoma City Parks & Recreation has announced 2024-2025 winter closure dates for its facilities. Community centers, performing arts centers and gyms will be closed from Monday, Dec. 23, through Friday, Jan. 3. Recreation centers and senior centers will be closed from Dec. 24 through Jan. 1.

    The wetlands boardwalk is about 600 feet long and winds through the reedy marsh just west of Lake Overholser. It’s the perfect place to spot waterfowl and other native birds, like scissor-tailed flycatchers and red-winged blackbirds.

    Southeast OKC residential trash customers impacted by the Nov. 3 tornadoes have another chance to clear storm debris. The City is launching its second and final round of special storm debris collection in the designated collection areas beginning tomorrow, Dec. 3.
