OKC Parks reopens boardwalk in Route 66 Park
The wetlands boardwalk is about 600 feet long and winds through the reedy marsh just west of Lake Overholser. It’s the perfect place to spot waterfowl and other native birds, like scissor-tailed flycatchers and red-winged blackbirds.

OKC Parks hosts “Turkey Shoot” free throw and cornhole contests across the city
Oklahoma City Parks & Recreation invites the community to take their shot at winning a free turkey in the annual “Turkey Shoot” free throw and cornhole competitions. Six community centers will host free throw competitions beginning at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25.

Councilperson James Cooper to host Ward 2 meet-up Nov. 19
Ward 2 residents are invited to a meet-up hosted by Councilperson James Cooper to get an update on topics such as the 2025 GO Bond, MAPS 4, Better Streets, Safer City, parks, Key to Home and more. The meet-up will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at Oklahoma City University.

2024 resident survey shows OKC is setting the national standard as a place to live, work and retire
Satisfaction with Oklahoma City as a place to live, work, raise children, visit and retire is significantly above the national average, according to results from the City’s annual survey administered in July by surveyor ETC Institute.

Oct. 31 is trick-or-treating night in Oklahoma City. OKC does not have set hours for trick-or-treating. Residents who plan to hand out candy should turn their porch lights on.

Lake Canton water release to replenish Lake Hefner, boosting OKC primary water source
The Oklahoma City Water Utilities Trust (OCWUT) is working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) to draw water from Lake Canton in northwest Oklahoma. The water is needed to help increase water levels at Lake Hefner, which serves as a primary water source for the City of Oklahoma City.

City Council approves funding for Wiley Post Park, USS Oklahoma City memorial
A long-awaited memorial honoring the legacy of the USS Oklahoma City submarine is expected to open in 2026 after the Oklahoma City Council voted Tuesday to fund improvements of the park that will be the monument’s home.

OKC Parks offer Halloween fun for all ages
Halloween Harvest will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at six locations throughout the city. These come-and-go events are free, and registration is not required. Activities vary by location, but highlights include trick-or-treating, games, face painting, arts and crafts, food and surprises.

OKC Parks offering low-cost fall break camps throughout the City
OKC Parks is offering fall break camps at seven locations throughout Oklahoma City, with some sessions starting as low as $10. All camps are Oct. 14-18, though hours vary by camp.

Ribbon cut on expanded North OKC soccer complex
OKC Parks and the North OKC Soccer Club officially cut the ribbon on the first phase of remodeling and expansion at C.B. Cameron Sports Complex. The $5 million athletic complex is funded through the Better Streets, Safer City bond program, passed by voters in 2017.

Oklahoma City Council approves final plans for first MAPS 4 Bike Lanes
Oklahoma City Council approved final plans today for the first phase of MAPS 4 Bike Lanes as part of the $22 million dedicated to bike facility improvements across Oklahoma City. Bike lane locations were selected based on the bikewalkokc plan, which identifies priorities and key connections.

Drawings for Oklahoma City duck blinds set for Sept. 14
The annual drawing for waterfowl blind sites at Lake Stanley Draper and Lake Overholser/Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge will be Saturday, Sept. 14. Registration opens at 10 a.m., and the drawing will be at 11 a.m. in the concession facility at the Lake Draper Marina, 8301 SE 104th St.
