OKC and Thunder approve agreements to keep the Thunder in OKC through at least 2053

Former convention center skybridge and wall scheduled for removal June 9-13; streetcar service interruption
Wrecking crews plan to demolish the north wall of the former convention center and dismantle a 145-foot-long glass and steel pedestrian skybridge that connects the center to the Wyndham Grand Hotel June 9-13.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Portions of Melrose Lane to Close for Water Line Installation near Rockwell Ave.; Work begins Tues., May 27
Starting at 5 a.m. on Tues., May 27, a 400-foot section of Melrose Lane west of Rockwell Ave. will close as contractors working for the Oklahoma City Utilities Department begin replacing a one-mile stretch of 42-inch water main. This is the first phase of a larger project to replace the water main.

City Council approves MAPS 4 Beautification master plan
Oklahoma City Council voted today to approve a master plan for the MAPS 4 Beautification project. MAPS 4 includes $32.9 million to help improve the appearance of Oklahoma City with targeted investments in beautification, including $5 million for an operating fund to provide permanent staff.

UPDATE - OKC Streetcar service interruption May 27-30, bus shuttles available
The Oklahoma City Streetcar will temporarily be suspended from May 27 to 30 so OG&E can disconnect power from the former Myriad Convention Center, 1 Myriad Gardens. The rescheduled work is being done to support the center’s demolition and make way for the construction of the new Paycom Center.

OKC breaks ground on MAPS 4 Family Justice Center operated by Palomar
Oklahoma City leaders and community members broke ground today on the new MAPS 4 Family Justice Center operated by Palomar. The $42-million facility, funded through MAPS 4, will enable Palomar to continue the ongoing mission of making Oklahoma City a place free from violence.

Lane closures on Robert S Kerr Avenue for water line repair
To accommodate the repair, all eastbound and westbound lanes of Robert S Kerr Avenue are temporarily closed from North Harvey Avenue to North Robinson Avenue. The repair is expected to be completed by 8 p.m., with lane closures remaining in place until work is finished.

Temporary street closures before, during and after the Festival of the Arts will affect downtown traffic April 11 - May 5. The Festival will take place April 24-27 in Bicentennial Park, between the Civic Center Music Hall and City Hall.

Construction is underway for Ward 7’s Dewey Park
Construction is underway on a new 4-acre park in northeast Oklahoma City. The former Dewey Elementary School, 3500 N. Lindsay Ave., was purchased by the City of Oklahoma City in December 2024 from Oklahoma City Public Schools to develop a new park in Ward 7.

OKC Utilities repairing water valve; traffic, service impacts
OKC Utilities Line Maintenance crews are working to repair the valve of an 8-inch water main located along Northwest 16th Street between North Rockwell Avenue and North MacArthur Boulevard. Eastbound and westbound traffic between Rockwell Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard will be impacted.

Temporary lane closures on NE 122nd Street for water main repair
OKC Utilities Line Maintenance crews are working to repair a ruptured 12-inch water main near the intersection of Northeast 122nd Street and North Santa Fe Avenue. Due to the complexity of the repair and safety considerations, work is scheduled to begin this evening and continue into the morning.

OKC Utilities Line Maintenance crews are working to repair a ruptured 20-inch water main near the intersection of North Pennsylvania Avenue and Northwest 16th Street. All northbound and southbound lanes of Pennsylvania Avenue are temporarily closed from NW 15th Street to NW 16th Street.
