OKC Utilities repairing water valve; traffic, service impacts
OKC Utilities Line Maintenance crews are working to repair the valve of an 8-inch water main located along Northwest 16th Street between North Rockwell Avenue and North MacArthur Boulevard. Eastbound and westbound traffic between Rockwell Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard will be impacted.

Public input for May Avenue bridge over NW Expressway redesign open through April 25
Oklahoma City residents can provide input on a major bridge project for May Avenue over NW Expressway. The project will replace the aging bridge and make significant improvements to enhance safety and traffic flow. Four traffic flow/interchange design alternatives are presented on okc.gov/may.

OKC Parks announces Deep Fork Trail ribbon cutting
The community is invited to a celebration to mark the opening of three completed phases of the new Deep Fork Trail in Oklahoma City. The ribbon cutting will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at Zach D. Taylor Park, 633 NW 52nd St.

OKC invites residents to dispose of computers, tires, ammunition and medications during April 12 special collection
Oklahoma City will host a special collection of unwanted computers, tires, ammunition and prescription medications from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the OKC Fairgrounds. The drop-off site will be on the south side of the fairgrounds, east of the Jim Norick Arena.

OKC Parks & Recreation partners with Youth on Course to expand golf access for young golfers
Through this partnership, Youth on Course members can play for free at Oklahoma City municipal courses anytime Monday through Thursday and after noon on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Brent Bryant named Assistant City Manager for Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City’s Chief Financial Officer, Brent Bryant, has been named Assistant City Manager by City Manager Craig Freeman. Bryant will oversee 5 departments. He is replacing Laura Johnson, who retired on March 14 after 45 years with the City.

Oklahoma City Council approves plans for more MAPS 4 Bike Lanes
Oklahoma City Council approved a construction contract this week for the next package of MAPS 4 Bike Lanes as part of the $22 million dedicated to bike facility improvements across Oklahoma City. Bike lane locations were selected based on the bikewalkokc plan.

Human Rights Commission to host tenants’ rights training with ACLU of Oklahoma

City Council selects four sites for MAPS 4 Youth Centers
Today, the Oklahoma City Council approved locations for four new youth centers. MAPS 4 includes $118 million to build state-of-the-art centers to benefit the lives of Oklahoma City’s youth and provide learning and social opportunities for children of all ages.

Construction firms hired for OKC new arena
On Tuesday, the Oklahoma City Council approved a contract with two construction companies, Flintco and Mortenson, who will partner to build the OKC new arena, which will be home to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Art partnership between OKC and Museum of Art features work from local artist Ernesto Sanchez in Convention Center
Celebrated local artist Ernesto Sanchez’s expansive 9 x 20-foot oil on panel “Massive Communication” is now featured on the third floor of the Oklahoma City Convention Center thanks to a reciprocal public art loan agreement between OKC, the Oklahoma City Museum of Art and the Convention Center.

OKC breaks ground on MAPS 4 Animal Welfare Center
Oklahoma City leaders and four adoptable dogs wearing cute construction worker costumes broke ground today on a 70,000-square-foot state-of-the-art animal welfare center. The $42 million center, funded through MAPS 4, is critical to making OKC a safer and more welcoming place for residents and pets.

Crews install new Bricktown Canal nanobubble technology
Five Moleaer Nanobubble Generators will release microscopic oxygen bubbles that are 1 million times smaller than your typical aquarium aerator bubble. At this size, the bubbles actually drift to the bottom of the canal and break down the nutrient load, improving water quality.
