Former convention center skybridge and wall scheduled for removal June 9-13; streetcar service interruption
Wrecking crews plan to demolish the north wall of the former convention center and dismantle a 145-foot-long glass and steel pedestrian skybridge that connects the center to the Wyndham Grand Hotel June 9-13.

Lightning strikes new Coliseum at the OKC Fairgrounds
On Sunday night, lightning struck an electrical transformer that serves the MAPS 4 Coliseum at the OKC Fairgrounds. The building is still under construction.

MAPS 4 to fund apartment homes for veterans experiencing homelessness
Veterans experiencing homelessness will soon have a new permanent housing option thanks to Oklahoma City Housing Authority (OCHA) and MAPS 4. Dorset Place, located at the intersection of 122nd St., N.W. and Dorset Dr., will provide 70 new units of supportive housing for veterans in Oklahoma City.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Portions of Melrose Lane to Close for Water Line Installation near Rockwell Ave.; Work begins Tues., May 27
Starting at 5 a.m. on Tues., May 27, a 400-foot section of Melrose Lane west of Rockwell Ave. will close as contractors working for the Oklahoma City Utilities Department begin replacing a one-mile stretch of 42-inch water main. This is the first phase of a larger project to replace the water main.

Memorial Day (Monday, May 26): No trash or recycling pickup. Makeup day is Wednesday, May 28. Bulky waste pickup is not affected. Free fare for RAPID, OKC Streetcar, buses and OKC PLUS.

City Council approves MAPS 4 Beautification master plan
Oklahoma City Council voted today to approve a master plan for the MAPS 4 Beautification project. MAPS 4 includes $32.9 million to help improve the appearance of Oklahoma City with targeted investments in beautification, including $5 million for an operating fund to provide permanent staff.

Travelers flying out of OKC Will Rogers International Airport over Memorial Day weekend are reminded to arrive at the airport two and a half hours early. The longest delays are expected between 4-7 a.m., which is when most people fly out of Oklahoma City.

UPDATE - OKC Streetcar service interruption May 27-30, bus shuttles available
The Oklahoma City Streetcar will temporarily be suspended from May 27 to 30 so OG&E can disconnect power from the former Myriad Convention Center, 1 Myriad Gardens. The rescheduled work is being done to support the center’s demolition and make way for the construction of the new Paycom Center.
