OKC Parks reopens boardwalk in Route 66 Park
The wetlands boardwalk is about 600 feet long and winds through the reedy marsh just west of Lake Overholser. It’s the perfect place to spot waterfowl and other native birds, like scissor-tailed flycatchers and red-winged blackbirds.

Second storm debris removal pass begins December 3
Southeast OKC residential trash customers impacted by the Nov. 3 tornadoes have another chance to clear storm debris. The City is launching its second and final round of special storm debris collection in the designated collection areas beginning tomorrow, Dec. 3.

Hefner Water Treatment Plant enters next phase of modernization project
Beginning Dec. 1, Oklahoma City’s Hefner Water Treatment Plant (WTP) will enter the next phase of its $44 million improvement project to modernize its ozone disinfection system and increase treatment capacity.

Oklahoma City asks for feedback on recycling habits
The Oklahoma City Utilities Department invites residents to participate in an online survey about their recycling habits. The survey can be found at okc.gov/recyclesurvey. It seeks to understand how residents use the City’s curbside recycling program.

Key to Home Partnership houses 26 people living outside in various encampment sites downtown
Twenty-six people living in encampments near downtown and along Oklahoma City Boulevard are being housed and provided case management support thanks to the Key to Home Partnership.

Don’t let FOG clogs gobble your holiday fun
The Oklahoma City Utilities Department reminds residents to “prevent clogs by tossing your FOG” to avoid potential costly plumbing repairs. This means throwing items with fats, oils and grease into the trash and not down the drain.

Candidate filing is Dec. 2-4 for OKC Wards 1, 3, 4 and 7
Candidates may file Dec. 2-4, 2024, to run for the Oklahoma City Council seats in Wards 1, 3, 4 and 7. Voting in the general election is set for Feb. 11, 2025. The nonpartisan election decides who represents those Wards on the Council for the next four-year term. See a Ward map at okc.gov/WardMap.

Former Councilman Lee E. Cooper, Jr. appointed to vacant Ward 7 seat
The City Council has appointed former Councilman Lee E. Cooper, Jr. to serve as the new Ward 7 Councilmember. Councilman Cooper will take the oath of office at an upcoming City Council meeting and will serve until the next elected Councilmember takes office on April 29, 2025.

City Council approves land donation agreement for MAPS 4 Multipurpose Stadium
Today Oklahoma City Council approved a real estate donation agreement with Echo to donate nine acres of land, located in the vicinity of South Shields Boulevard and SE 3rd Street, identified as the site for the MAPS 4 Multipurpose Stadium.

City Council approves final plans for new MAPS 4 animal shelter
Oklahoma City Council approved final plans today for a new, modern animal shelter as part of MAPS 4. The new 69,602-square-foot facility will replace OKC Animal Welfare’s current facility, offering enhanced services for animals and residents while significantly expanding capacity.

OKC seeks resident input on use of federal HUD funds during December and January public meetings
The City of Oklahoma City invites residents to attend one of four workshops to provide input on how the City spends U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) program funds. HUD funding is used for things like affordable housing and economic and workforce development.
