The home plans must meet or exceed 2021 IECC and ASHRAE 90.1-2019, minimum energy standards the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development adopted in April 2024. Additional details will be published in the Request for Qualifications documents.

A third-party energy modeling contractor will evaluate the energy models that provide a 30-year utility bill savings estimate and compare those to the baseline home using the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) score modeled by OKC's minimum design code standards. 

Ultimately, the goal is to provide consumers a resource that shields them from rising utility costs, an increasingly hotter climate and avoid the havoc extreme weather can wreak on one's home.
