Lake Canton water release to replenish Lake Hefner, boosting OKC primary water source
The Oklahoma City Water Utilities Trust (OCWUT) is working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) to draw water from Lake Canton in northwest Oklahoma. The water is needed to help increase water levels at Lake Hefner, which serves as a primary water source for the City of Oklahoma City.

City Council to consider hiring arena architects on Tuesday
On Tuesday, Oklahoma City Council will consider approving a contract with the architectural team of MANICA Architecture as the Design Architect and TVS as the Architect of Record for the design and development of Oklahoma City’s new arena.

Residents invited to Public Safety Advisory Board info session Oct. 24
Everyone is invited to attend a Community Public Safety Advisory Board (CPSAB) Ward 2 info session at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24. The free event will be held in the Will Rogers Gardens, Exhibition Center, 3400 NW 36th St. and is open to the public.

OKC Utilities Department publishes water service line inventory, implements plan to meet new EPA lead and copper rules
In compliance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR), the City of Oklahoma City Utilities Department has published an online inventory of all water service lines connected to the City’s water distribution system.

Former OKC Ward 3 Councilman Larry McAtee dies at 87
McAtee served Ward 3 from 2001 – 2021, making him the second longest-serving councilperson in Oklahoma City history. He was reelected in 2005, 2009, 2013 and 2017.

City Council selects YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City to operate MAPS 4 Senior Wellness Center
The Oklahoma City Council voted this week to select the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City as the operating partner for the MAPS 4 senior health and wellness center project. The project includes $16.7 million for a fifth senior wellness center and $15 million for operations, maintenance and scholarships.

OKC Parks offer Halloween fun for all ages
Halloween Harvest will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at six locations throughout the city. These come-and-go events are free, and registration is not required. Activities vary by location, but highlights include trick-or-treating, games, face painting, arts and crafts, food and surprises.

OKC’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center closed Sept. 26
Oklahoma City’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center will be closed Thursday, Sept. 26, for maintenance and will reopen Friday, Sept. 27. The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center at 1621 S Portland Ave. accepts a variety of hazardous materials from residents’ homes year-round.

Ribbon cut on expanded North OKC soccer complex
OKC Parks and the North OKC Soccer Club officially cut the ribbon on the first phase of remodeling and expansion at C.B. Cameron Sports Complex. The $5 million athletic complex is funded through the Better Streets, Safer City bond program, passed by voters in 2017.
