The Oklahoma City Council meets at 8:30 a.m. Tuesdays on the third floor of City Hall, 200 N Walker Ave., and live broadcasts are available on Cox Channel 20, www.youtube.com/cityofokc/live and www.okc.gov. A recording of each meeting is then added to the City's YouTube channel.
Permits and Events
Large public events held on public rights-of-way (City streets, sidewalks, alleys or
easements) require a permit and must be approved by the Oklahoma City Council.
Council approved permits Tuesday for:
- Gatewood Elementary School's "Gatewood Gator 5K," April 18.
- H&8th Night Market Association's "H&8th Night Market," final Friday each month from March to October 2015.
- OK Garden Fest's "OKC Garden Festival," May 9.
- Tierra Media Group's "Ready, Gazette, Go Festival," March 28.

MAPS 3 Riversport Rapids Whitewater Park update presented
MAPS 3 Program Manager David Todd and architect Jeffrey Gustin with S20 Design delivered an update to the Council on Tuesday about the MAPS 3 Riversport Rapids Whitewater Park on the Oklahoma River. The Whitewater Park is under construction and set to open later in 2016.
Street Lighting Policies amended
The Council voted Tuesday to amend the City's policies on street lighting, including an amendment that would allow for additional lighting on neighborhood streets.
Fees set for City Aquatic Centers
The Council approved fees for the Earlywine and Will Rogers Family Aquatic Centers on Tuesday, which could help provide enhanced services and better compete in the local job market. Fees for children 2 feet tall and under will remain $6, with fees for other users increasing to $7. Individual season passes are $60 and season passes for a family of four are $180. Some party area and athletic field fees in the Parks and Recreation Department system also were affected.
Railroad crossing changes approved as part of "Quiet Zone" transition
The Council voted Tuesday to approve an agreement with the BNSF Railway Company to make changes to railroad crossings to create a "Quiet Zone" between NE/NW 16 and SE 23. The changes will allow trains to pass through the zone without having to sound a horn. The City will close railroad crossings at Park Place, NE/NW 11, NE/NW 12, NE/NW 14 and SE 23, and the City and BNSF are each assuming costs for different parts of signal equipment changes at various other crossings.
Street closure approved for Science Museum of Oklahoma parking and pedestrian improvements
The Council voted Tuesday to approve the closure of a portion of NE 52 near the Science Museum of Oklahoma as part of improvements to parking and pedestrian access to the museum. The Planning Commission recommended approving the request at its Jan. 29 meeting.
March Sales and Use Tax Report issued
The Council on Tuesday received the March 2015 Sales and Use Tax Report, which showed General Fund collections were 0.5 percent below target for the month. General Fund collections for the current fiscal year are 0.4 percent above target.
Bond issuance approved
The Council voted Tuesday to approve the issuance of $85.6 million in General Obligation Bonds from the bond package voters approved in December 2007. The bonds will pay for a variety of public improvements projects like streets, bridges and public facilities.
