City Controller Alex Fedak receives Recognition for Outstanding Public Service honors from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

This recognition is for individual GFOA members for their dedication to the profession, their colleagues, their organizations, and their communities. The work of finance professionals is critical to the government's ability to serve, but it often occurs behind the scenes.

From California to New York and everywhere in between, Fedak was one of 32 financial professionals to receive this honor.

“I am not surprised with Alex receiving recognition from GFOA,” Chief Financial Officer Brent Bryant said. “He is a great leader, who is a very collaborative and conscientious public servant with very high standards. It is a well-deserved recognition.”

As the City controller, Fedak oversees financial reporting for the City and its trusts, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of issued financial statements and collaborating with external and internal auditors to maintain transparency and compliance with regulatory standards.

This work supports the City’s financial integrity and plays a critical role in achieving and maintaining its AAA bond rating. With his help, the City of Oklahoma City has maintained triple A credit ratings, the highest possible rating, for 16 consecutive years.

“Alex’s focus on clear financial reporting has strengthened the community’s trust in local government, helping to secure funding for essential services,” Assistant Controller Amy Parker said. “Alex’s leadership has not only elevated the reputation of Oklahoma City but has also contributed to its overall prosperity and well-being.”
