Proposed fee changes for administrative approvals and reviews in Oklahoma City’s historic preservation (HP) and design review districts would make it cheaper for routine work, with increases for the first time in a decade for more complicated reviews.
The fee changes reflect some cost inflation since the previous change, and better reflect administrative costs for each type of application.
The proposed fee changes were introduced during the May 26 City Council meeting. A public hearing is scheduled for June 9, with adoption on June 16. Find City Council meeting agendas at okc.gov/agenda.
In Oklahoma City’s HP and design review districts, property owners must get approval for most physical changes to buildings or the property itself.
The proposed fee changes would drop the fee from $100 to $75 for administrative approval in the HP districts (Crown Heights, Edgemere Park, Jefferson Park, Mesta Park/Heritage Hills/Heritage Hills East, Paseo, Putnam Heights and Shepherd). Administrative approval is needed for things like driveways, fences and other minor projects.
Fees in HP districts would increase from $100 to $150 for Commission review of larger projects without construction, like altering a historic porch. Fees would increase from $100 to $200 for Commission review of projects with construction, like building a new home, garage or addition.
In design review districts (Bricktown, Downtown, Scenic River Overlay, Stockyards City and Urban Design Districts), fees would increase from $100 to $200 for administrative approvals. Fees would increase from $500 to $750 for projects, like construction of a large building or a major demolition, that go to a district’s commission.
