About 200 free storm shelters are still available to Oklahoma City residents below certain income thresholds whose homes were affected by the May 2013 tornadoes.
The program, which has been in place since last year, is available on a first-come, first-served basis to Oklahoma City residents whose homes were affected by the May 19-20 or 31, 2013, storms.
Damage as insignificant as a downed tree branch qualifies.
To qualify, a single person can earn up to $36,150. Families of two can qualify with a combined income of up to $41,300. The threshold is $46,450 for a family of three, $51,600 for a family of four, $55,750 for a family of five, $59,900 for a family of six, $64,000 for a family of seven and $68,150 for a family of eight.
Applicants must own and live in the home to qualify, and rental properties are not eligible.
