OKC Council Meeting Notes: Sept. 12, 2017

The Oklahoma City Council meets at 8:30 a.m. Tuesdays on the third floor of City Hall, 200 N Walker Ave. Live broadcasts are available on Cox Channel 20 and YouTube. A recording of each meeting is then added to the City's YouTube channel. Check out the meeting calendar for agendas and schedules.

Event permits

The Council approved permits Tuesday for:

  • Vietnamese American Community of Oklahoma City and Metro Area's "2017 Lunar Moon Festival," Oct. 7.
  • Alzheimer's Disease & Related Disorders Association's "Walk to End Alzheimer's," Sept. 30.
  • DG Productions' "Monarch Madness 5K," Sept. 23.
  • JDRF International's "JDRF One Walk," Sept. 16
  • Uptown 23rd District Association's "Uptown Fun (5)K," Sept. 24.

Oklahoma City's September sales tax summary

The September sales tax report shows General Fund collections in Oklahoma City were up 3.4 percent compared to the same month last year, above the monthly projection by 1.4 percent. The September report includes collections for the last half of July and estimated collections in the first half of August, which total about $18.1 million for the General Fund. That’s around $249,000 above the projection. September is the third month of fiscal year 2018. General Fund sales tax revenue is 1.5 percent (about $829,000) above the year-to-date projection. The General Fund pays for the City’s day-to-day operations. Sales tax is the City’s largest single source of revenue.

Council receives Priorities update on high standards for City services

City officials provided the Council with an update Tuesday on one of the official Council Priorities: Uphold High Standards for All City Services. The report shows Oklahoma City residents continue to be more satisfied with City services than the national average. About 96 percent of resident service requests received by the Action Center were acted upon within 10 working days.
