Council approves deal for land, OG&E substation relocation for MAPS 3 Convention Center

The Council voted Tuesday to approve a real estate deal for the MAPS 3 Downtown Convention Center and reimburse the Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co. (OG&E) for relocating its substation on the property. As part of the deal, the City of OKC and OG&E are swapping pieces of downtown-area property -- OG&E is trading lots at SW 4th Street and Robinson where the OG&E substation is now for City-owned land in an industrial area along the Oklahoma River. The City will build the MAPS 3 Downtown Convention Center on the former substation site and other adjacent lots, and the Council authorized up to $29.3 million to reimburse OG&E for relocating the substation to the industrial site.
