Be sure to keep your annual City of OKC Alarm Permit current if you have a security alarm at your house to help police officers and firefighters find you in an emergency.
City of OKC code requires an annual permit for residential and business security and/or fire alarms. The permit ensures emergency crews have recent, accurate contact information if an alarm goes off, which can help save lives and your property especially if you aren’t home during a fire or another emergency.
If you're unsure whether you live in the City of Oklahoma City, visit okc.gov/AddressVerification to find out for sure before purchasing a permit. The fee is non-refundable.
New, one-year permits cost $27, and a one-year renewal is $17. Applicants will receive an alarm permit to be placed on the front door of the home or residence.
Visit okc.gov/alarm for details and to download a guide to the alarm program, or visit a City of OKC Police or Fire station.
Having a permit may help avoid potential fines for excessive false alarms by giving police the ability to proactively track problems. Administrative fees are issued for excessive false alarms even if you have a permit. Alarm owners are allowed three false alarms within a 365-day period. Any false alarms beyond three are deemed excessive and will result in the assessment of an administrative fee. The cost of the fee invoices are $65 for each
Police Department response and $107 for each
Fire Department response.
