Oklahoma City Council adopts 2025 budget
The Oklahoma City Council on Tuesday adopted the City Manager’s 2025 budget. Visit okc.gov/budget to see the budget book. The operating budget, which pays for day-to-day operations, is $918 million.The adopted budget includes funding for 5,117 full-time positions, an increase of nine from FY 24.

Residents can weigh in on OKC’s proposed 2025 budget through June 4
An overview of Oklahoma City Manager Craig Freeman’s proposed budget and the Police and Fire proposed budgets were presented to Oklahoma City Council on April 30. Residents are invited to review a copy of the proposed budget book and submit comments by June 4.

Debbie Miller selected as City’s next Public Works Director
City Manager Craig Freeman announced this week the hiring of Assistant City Engineer Debbie Miller, P.E. to be the City’s next Public Works Director/City Engineer, effective immediately. She is the first female Public Works Director/City Engineer in Oklahoma City’s history.

2023 resident survey shows OKC is setting the national standard as a place to live, work and retire
Satisfaction with Oklahoma City as a place to live, work, raise children, visit and retire is significantly above the national average according to results from the City’s annual survey administered in July by surveyor, ETC Institute.

Oklahoma City opens first recreation center in over 40 years, hosts grand opening July 15
The community is invited to attend the grand opening for the Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center, 909 Fredrick Douglass Ave., from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. July 15. The $17.5 million state-of-the-art recreation center is named after former Ward 7 Councilwoman Willa D. Johnson.

Construction underway on Deep Fork Greenway Trail
Work began this month on a 4.3-mile Deep Fork Greenway Trail. The trail will run between the Deep Fork River. It will connect the Katy Trail at NE Grand and I-44 to the North Grand Boulevard Trail at NW Grand and NW 63rd, completing a 24-mile trail system.

Installation begins Sept. 14 on pedestrian bridge over NW Expressway
Northwest Expressway from Wilshire Boulevard to MacArthur Boulevard will close from midnight to 5 a.m. Sept. 14 so construction crews can hoist an iconic 121-foot pedestrian bridge over NW Expressway, east of Wilshire Boulevard.
