People interested in a career as a Dispatcher Trainee with OKC’s 911 are encouraged to apply online by 11:59 p.m. Nov. 7.
Applicants who pass the screening will be invited to take a test between 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 9 at 420 W. Main St. Due to testing procedures, on-site applications and walk-ins will not be accepted.
Those who pass the screening process should bring a state-issued photo ID and be prepared to take a test, interview, fill out background authorization forms and complete mandatory drug testing. The entire process may take several hours.
Validated parking is available at the Sheridan-Walker Public Parking Garage, 501 W. Sheridan Ave. Take a ticket to enter the parking garage. City staff will provide a validation ticket at the event.
About the test
The 911 Dispatcher Trainee application requires a test that includes an audio portion that simulates 911 calls and can take up to 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete.
Applicants must get at least 70% to pass the test. If you pass the test, you will proceed to an interview. You will be either placed on a hiring list or given a conditional job offer.
If you receive a conditional job offer, background authorization forms and drug tests will be conducted on-site. The entire process may take several hours. The timeframe depends on several factors, including the volume of hiring event participants.

Employees receive and transmit information via telephone and through the Computer Aided Dispatch Data Network, record information obtained by callers by typing information into the computer, route calls to appropriate dispatch consoles, and dispatch emergency and non-emergency vehicles. Must be age 18+.
$5,000 signing bonus
A new hire signing bonus of $5,000 is offered for this position. $5,000 will be paid once the new hire completes the four-week classroom instruction/training on the telecommunications equipment and procedures and the probationary period.
To be awarded a signing bonus, a successful candidate must sign a City of Oklahoma City New Hire Signing Bonus and Employee Recruitment Referral Bonus Agreement form prior to the first day of employment. Signing bonuses will be paid as a one-time lump sum payment via a separate check on the last day of the new hire's probationary period.
