The Oklahoma City Council has appointed Jason Glidewell as a Municipal Court judge.
Glidewell, 44, is one of four Municipal Court judges. He will serve alongside Presiding Judge Philippa James, Judge Donald O. Kiffin and Judge Edward Hasbrook. He was sworn in May 26.
Municipal Judges have a critical role in upholding public trust and confidence in the administration of justice at the City level. They oversee cases involving alleged violations of Municipal Code, including traffic tickets, residential code enforcement, criminal offenses and more.
Glidewell is a longtime attorney in Oklahoma, and is an adjunct professor of criminal justice at the University of Oklahoma.
“Serving the community has always been a priority of mine,” said Glidewell. “Getting the opportunity to serve a city as dynamic as Oklahoma City is a real honor.”
His previous experience includes serving as chief magistrate for a U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs court, Wyandotte Nation Supreme Court justice, Delaware Nation gaming commissioner, Oklahoma State Department of Tourism and Recreation commissioner, an assistant attorney general for Oklahoma, Grady County and Caddo County assistant district attorney and private practice.
Glidewell is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
Glidewell earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and history and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma. He was also the president of the Anadarko Public Schools Foundation and the Caddo County Bar Association.
