Proposal introduced for new TIF districts for Wheeler District
The Council heard a presentation Tuesday regarding proposed tax increment finance (TIF) districts to support the Wheeler District, a proposed 150-acre private mixed-use development along Western Avenue south of the Oklahoma River. Plans for the Wheeler District call for 2,000 new housing units, offices, retail and a school. The proposal would authorize $120 million of TIF funds to be reinvested within the project plan area, which is expected to help spur up to $1 billion in private development. The proposed TIF districts are set for a final hearing Jan. 31.
