Ward 7 Councilman John A. Pettis Jr. has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2017 Human Development committee.
The committee develops NLC’s federal policy positions on social services, children and learning, poverty and income support, employment and workforce development, equal opportunity, Social Security and seniors, people with disabilities, public health care, mental health parity and immigration reform.
As a member of the committee, Councilman Pettis will help shape NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities and towns before Congress, with the new administration and at home.
The NLC is a group of more than 19,000 cities, towns and other municipalities dedicated to helping civic leaders build better communities.
