The Oklahoma City Council meets at 8:30 a.m. Tuesdays on the third floor of City Hall, 200 N Walker Ave., and live broadcasts are available on Cox Channel 20, www.youtube.com/cityofokc/live and www.okc.gov. A recording of each meeting is then added to the City's YouTube channel.
Permits and Events
Large public events held on public rights-of-way (City streets, sidewalks, alleys or easements) require a permit and must be approved by the Oklahoma City Council.
Council approved permits Tuesday for:
- American Heart Association's "Heart Walk," April 18.
- Oklahoma City Marathon, Inc.'s "Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon," April 26.
- SW 29th Business Improvement District Association's "Festival Dia del NiƱo en La 29 (SW 29th Street Children's Day Festival)," April 19.

Council members sworn in for new terms
Ward 2 Councilman Ed Shadid, Ward 5 Councilman David Greenwell and Ward 6 Councilwoman Meg Salyer were sworn in for new terms and Ward 8 Councilman Mark Stonecipher was sworn in for his first term Tuesday. Councilmen Shadid and Greenwell and Councilwoman Salyer won re-election in March, and Councilman Stonecipher won the election to replace former Ward 8 Councilman Pat Ryan, who did not seek re-election. The Council members were elected to four-year terms. Council members are paid $12,000 per year, and positions are non-partisan.

Councilman McAtee takes turn as Vice Mayor
Ward 3 Councilman Larry McAtee began his six-month term as Vice Mayor on Tuesday. Council members take the position on a rotating basis for the six-month terms. The Vice Mayor assumes the duties of the Mayor when the Mayor is absent, including leading Council meetings.
